I have fond memories of Disneyland, the original one in L.A. I and my sisters were able to visit the magical place in 1993. I was mesmerized by such a wonderful place and even had an autograph of the Disney mascots, haha! I know the autograph is still at home, somewhere in my cabinet, as I am still keeping it as a memorabilia. We spent a day inside and at that time, I felt that the visit was not even enough for us to tour the whole place.
Such visit was not followed by another one. I know I need not set foot anymore -- "Been there, done that", literally.
However, when I had my kids, I felt that I need to somehow bring them to Disneyland. As in fact, K1 was looking forward to seeing Disneyland. Such interest started when he was introduced to Toy Story. Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and the green army men became his instant favorites
Disneyland became the surname of HongKong as he would always say he'd be going to "HongKong Disneyland".
We arrived at Disneyland around noon. Since K1 and K2 were only sharing a stroller, we rented another one for HK$60.00.
The castle was still quiet when we arrived --
Mickey Mouse welcomed us --
The kids became uncontrollable. They all wanted to run somewhere to touch and feel the place, simulacra for H. They are not hungry, or they forgot that we haven't had lunch yet.
We stopped by Plaza Inn Restaurant, the only dining place that has no lines of hungry patrons. The only reason I could think of is because the place doesn't appeal to kids as the place looks so serious, think about a Chinese Restaurant with white china wares and chopsticks, the real ones and not the bamboos.
A 500 ml. bottle of water costs HK$24.00! I instead had an iced cold soda at HK$21.00, cheaper by HK$3.00! But then in the end, I was really thirst and had no choice but to get a bottle since they don't serve house water. It is worth mentioning that even hot water cannot be obtained for free!
We took advantage of the aircon and stayed there for about two hours while we were waiting for the 4:00 P.M. parade to start. The BIL and niece CM went out to take pictures --
Snow white and the Smurfs, not! |
The parade started at exactly 4:00 P.M. The classic Disney characters came out first --
Goofy |
Dumbo |
Top: Mickey; Bottom: Goofy, Minnie, and Pluto |

Niece CM's favorites -- Disney Princesses --
Edit: Oops, not a princess! Haha! |
Tinkerbell |
And the much awaited characters of Toy Story. K1 was speechless and over-whelmed --

Simulacra --
The kids woke up in time for dinner at --
Then the fireworks, which lasted for about 6 minutes. K2 was busy, not with the fireworks but with the water bottle and the stroller he was sitting on. Haha!
Time to go back to the hotel. We were tired but happy. Such happy campers!
"Thank You for Visiting" |
We surely would go back next time, when K2 is ready for the magical place. Hope it's soon.
