<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Being
a working mom is a tiring but a fulfilling role.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Since the latter part of 2013, I made this
realization that I should not just balance my roles but I should prioritize
motherhood.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>After all, the kids are
growing up so fast and they need our constant love and undivided attention.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I try my best to give each kid their “me-time
with mommy”.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I play with them, read books,
create stories, write their names, draw silly characters, and the list goes on.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The
other day, I decided to wake up late.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> However, </span>K1
who usually wakes up ahead of us, got too
excited when he saw the sunlight coming through our window. He then woke me up with
his mongo plant in his little chubby hand! He asked, more on forced, me to get the mongo plant from him and to hold it where it could get the maximum rays of the sun!</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Here is the ever-obedient mom doing what she was told --</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12pt;"></span> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDrpG3WkD6qHeEhS_4H3KRoHj1BaXZVG-cobz_r6CkHL_LeB5Vs-xMFr8OAIvIzVKRA3NzIOS0ITJPg8MMQ4RiJaqbvCNU_Z1nHhtoOnvNSExafTwZFNEJtfMpgTxYwJ6ZFX5C4US6pIk/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDrpG3WkD6qHeEhS_4H3KRoHj1BaXZVG-cobz_r6CkHL_LeB5Vs-xMFr8OAIvIzVKRA3NzIOS0ITJPg8MMQ4RiJaqbvCNU_Z1nHhtoOnvNSExafTwZFNEJtfMpgTxYwJ6ZFX5C4US6pIk/s1600/photo.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Oh, I'm good with sticking with schedules when it comes to work. But with motherhood, the kids are just too demanding that you cannot say no to them. How can you resist this curious kid who wants to know the answer in everything? Well, that is how I usually start my day.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">By the way, I saw this article from Yahoo that you can grow Quinoa at home, just like mongo seeds. Since Quinoa is a staple at home and we have few stocks left, may be I can ask K1 to plant some for us. That is, if those store-bought and packed Quinoa are still capable of being planted. Or may be I can ask the hubby to plant some and tease him that he really has no "green thumb" should he fail to grow those Quinoa grains.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Will update once we succeed in making those Quinoa grow! :)</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="line-height: 115%;">I

don't have to write anything and just caption the pictures you post. <o:p></o:p></span>

<br />
It's a Friday and I went home early! For my day to be productive, I decided to fix my sons' cabinets especially because I want to get rid of the clothes and toys they are no longer using. While doing so, I saw new clothes which I didn't know existed. I grabbed them, took off the tags, and shoot them on the kids' laundry basket. <br />
<br />
My kids, the sneaky naughty boys they are, started pulling all the stuff that interest them, including the Superman capes they got from their second cousin RL's first birthday. K1 gave one to his brother and they begged me to tie the capes around their necks. <br />
<br />
I obliged and they ran around like hyper kids who just had their caffeine fix. Look at these playful little boys --<br />

<br />
I'm back from my hiatus! I've been wanting to write but my busy schedule prevented me from sharing what has been going on with my life. To show how busy I am, I haven't had a haircut and derma visit for quite sometime already and I haven't had the opportunity to shop! My mom and sister have been bugging me to have a haircut before the Chinese New Year but then again, I have no time to spare even for my self. <br />
<br />
Anyhoo, last February, our small family went to Clark Field in Pampanga to visit my sister-in-law who is currently staying in one of the Villas inside Mimosa Leisure Park. She had the privilege of staying there, not for days, but for months, after she was given a new assignment in their company's branch plant inside Clark.<br />
While the Villas are not new, it is not too old too. She gets to use the three-bedroom villa with centralized air-conditioning system. Yes, electricity is high but I tell you, she gets it free! Not a single centavo to spend!<br />
<br />
We got to her villa after dinner and we just slept. H and I were both very tired because of a week's work.<br />
<br />
On our second day, we went out for this year's Hot Air Balloon Festival! Good thing we did not miss it this time. Last year, all the balloons were up already and we did not see them close. Here are the pictures of my attempts to capture the balloons. Against the light, argh --<br />

<br />
We were also able to see some of the planes but we went back to the villa because of the crowd and the scourging heat!<br />
<br />
Back
to the villa, the little boys enjoyed the surroundings and the park
nearby. They were able to roam freely, touch the leaves, and feel the
sand on their feet. As for K1, he freaked when the sand touched his
small feet. He doesn't like the feel of the sand. That was the same
reaction we got when we went to Punta Fuego a year ago. He didn't want
to swim on the beach because he hated the sand. <br />
<br />
Next stop, we went to Nayong Pilipino! The
last time I've been to Nayong Pilipino was when I was in grade school
for one of our field trips. And it was in Manila.<br />
<br />
It's just nice to be
acquainted with our history!<br />

We toured some more and ended our day duty free shopping. Spending the weekend with our family is something I really treasure and enjoy. We can see from K1 and K2's faces that they enjoyed not just our trip but the moments we spent with them. I just hope we can go out on road trips often.</div>

<br />
This blog was created to document happy memories. However, due to the loss of a member of our family, I will interrupt the otherwise happy posts --<br />
<br />
Some days are good, some days are not. Today is just another day until I received a call from my cousin's wife that something terrible happened to our beloved cousin whom we treated as a brother and a friend. <br />
<br />
I have several male cousins but K1 only remembers two names and that includes you. Too bad for K2, he'll not be able to meet an uncle as cool as you. <br />
<br />
Cuz, I'm sorry that I did not check on you during the holiday season when hubby asked me where you are and how are you. He did not hear from you for some time. He was waiting for your text messages, be it a simple hi or "musta?"<br />
<br />
We are saddened by your loss but we have to move on. You will be missed cuz! We know you're in a better place. Where there is peace and where it is quiet. We still can't believe that this has to happen and too soon. We will surely miss you -- our talks and the simple messages on our Facebook group as you are always first in leaving one. <br />
<br />
You have to do so explaining, at least to me. As you've always said -- "Talk to my lawyer!" If we can only have one last time to talk to each other, I will definitely treasure that and make the most of that time.<br />
<br />
We love you, cuz! Farewell! You will not be forgotten and you will always remain in our hearts!<br />
</div>Gehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03902626532973848580noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-254578511486782603.post-22796473021610267082012-01-03T17:07:00.000+08:002012-01-04T12:24:00.685+08:00Lego Duplo + Mega Bloks<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<br />
My kids have a lot to be thankful for and some of them are the toys they have been receiving from our families, relatives, and friends. We have amassed a lot that one of our rooms at home was designated as their storage room. K1 would go there, choose the toy he wants to play, and ask her yaya to help him bring it out to their play area.<br />
<br />
My kids are fond of Lego Duplo for it is an opportunity for them to be creative and make dialogues for the characters they create. They have the postman set from my SIL GE from last Christmas, and two sets each of the policeman and traffic policeman from my sister DM from our last visit to them in the US. Just recently, my SIL EA added the Pooh Set to their collection. Look at the Duplos of the kiddos --<br />
<br />

<br />
I am keeping the sets of K2 to avoid them from getting lost. I would be bringing them out for him to play at the right time. For now, he should play with those appropriate for his age. <br />
<br />
Look at K1 goofing after we made the village --<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">And thanks to my SIL JE for the table and chairs set</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
And when I thought we only have the Duplos to collect, two sets of Mega Bloks were given by my SIL GE (which we can add to the Mega Bloks Set K1 received from a relative on his first birthday.)<br />
<br />
Looky-looky! 1000 Micro Bloks + 200 Mini Bloks = 1,200 Bloks of fun! And 1,200 Bloks to keep after each play! <br />

These toys could very well help my kids with their motor skills. Who knows, one of my kiddos might be an architect years from now! Plus, playing with these toys is a way for us to bond, guide our kids, and simply be with them. <br />
<br />
Thank you to my kiddos' benefactors! While I am thinking of ways on how to ensure that their toys are all in order and do not get misplaced, I do not know now how to monitor 1,000 ++ pieces. I am not complaining, though. I am happy for them for my kids are indeed blessed for having people who love and care for them! Thanks again! :)<br />

While it is a disappointment for us adults not to see a "Christmas Village", K1 and K2 were so happy to be inside "Santa's House" where they saw lots of eye candies. Now, the kiddos think of Santa's House as a haven for toys! We just have to remind them every so often that they have to be good boys for Santa to send them toys on Christmases to come!<br />

Last 1 December 2011, we went to The Transfiguration Chapel, or Caleruega Church as known to many, to attend the wedding of my cousin AL and his fiancee WD. The attendees were very much excited to see them tie the knot considering that we have known them as a couple for several years already. I am also excited since K1 would be carrying the wedding rings of the couple. I know, I am such a stage mom.<br />
<br />
Before the couple enters the Chapel, the crowd was entertained by Holly Angel Paraiso with her soothing and heavenly music. Here she is playing the harp --<br />

</div>Technology is something which scares and intimidates me. I do not own any of the products created by Steve Jobs and I cannot relate on the impact he introduced to people's lives. And while I own a hand-me-down Blackberry, I do not maximize its full potential. I do not even know how BBM works and I am not willing to pay extra for its subscription, such a cheapskate! Haha!<br />
<br />
My case is different with my sisters and my hubby. They own iPods, iPhones, and iPads and they feel somethings missing when they do not have their gadgets with them. And while I thought my parents could relate to me, I was mistaken!<br />
<br />
My dad couldn't live without the net and his gadgets are his prized possessions! Haha! Here are my dad's gadgets --<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwUtwQusaKpM-EfDf7s4MzMbdBFbWFLC1NLyyj9okhSrB098xE3JvedI8BOQi_5vZ8djvocs-q1BnQngEkzXXCHpaKt9Kfg1tFEi2dRlfqg9eXYMDeAHGkp9fLeW0sYoqhesmLdG5gL7Y/s400/IMG_1231.JPG" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" width="300" /></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Dad's netbook, iPad, and iPhone</td></tr>
</tbody></table><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha6tA8wnQhwSo2D-xVQl6h9R_JMXVL4lKSEH7isgL34DzwwL7oBILdWJYgJTzwYOVnV8C8f1S7JZ4nkFc4HLuZEfc7oU5dqvONFk64C7SUAJqIO0Xxy5y9Sw7lDQlFaKJqpgRYRvi2T1A/s1600/IMG_1223.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha6tA8wnQhwSo2D-xVQl6h9R_JMXVL4lKSEH7isgL34DzwwL7oBILdWJYgJTzwYOVnV8C8f1S7JZ4nkFc4HLuZEfc7oU5dqvONFk64C7SUAJqIO0Xxy5y9Sw7lDQlFaKJqpgRYRvi2T1A/s400/IMG_1223.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Dad's netbook, iPad, and iPhone</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
Dad uses his gadgets to check the news (which saves us subscription on newspapers), his Facebook, and Yahoo Mail. He also Googles whatever interests him. After all, these gadgets and technology continuously educate and entertain him. No, he is not a tech-savvy but unlike me, he is not afraid of trying and he has a daughter who patiently helps him download Apps and teaches him with everything he needs. And unlike me, he has the money to burn for his gadgets. Haha!<br />
<br />
And, dad does not own a simple iPhone -- it is an iPhone 4S -- <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9qWrr7vEfjz8yajJGPABWX814f1XkktedRwRRumJFn_IImMtto3Ol3oMGWfr0XTmp7shSf1DRoUWU8KNE_aY3dxrb2IEJUOFSIfqioQFAiZM3Yo8H4vQKdItnLFBHB4FpXfqR6dMlJMs/s1600/IMG_1236.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9qWrr7vEfjz8yajJGPABWX814f1XkktedRwRRumJFn_IImMtto3Ol3oMGWfr0XTmp7shSf1DRoUWU8KNE_aY3dxrb2IEJUOFSIfqioQFAiZM3Yo8H4vQKdItnLFBHB4FpXfqR6dMlJMs/s400/IMG_1236.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
I just hope he could maximize its full potential. One of these days, I wouldn't be surprised when I see and hear my dad talking to a female sounding call center agent who would be acting as his secretary or companion since his iPhone 4S is equipped with Siri, a witty assistant! I heard my sister commanding Siri -- "Let's talk dirty!" and Siri answered -- "Oh, gravel" and "The carpet needs some vacuuming"!<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqp6P2TOL0YildRaeGnSmSUfVZl2VDFBpZ2lTrytm-RrAK703peM238UgjjtSnKUFLp3-GT7vN9g66A-TUlhTk7vULVTGipIDoZciHXuOc543y_2HbLKZYK1kBOyunUhQEZFAZsdLA4NA/s1600/IMG_1234.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqp6P2TOL0YildRaeGnSmSUfVZl2VDFBpZ2lTrytm-RrAK703peM238UgjjtSnKUFLp3-GT7vN9g66A-TUlhTk7vULVTGipIDoZciHXuOc543y_2HbLKZYK1kBOyunUhQEZFAZsdLA4NA/s400/IMG_1234.JPG" width="300" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">iPad and iPhone 4S</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
Let's just leave the gadgets to my family. After all, I do not feel yet their importance in my life, save for checking my mails and my Facebook, which I could easily do with whatever gadget is available and not in use. Plus, my bag is already heavy with too much stuff which I cannot leave behind.<br />
<br />
Don't say I am just sourgraping. Haha! :)<br />

My sister DM and I are contemplating on getting the Kindle Fire. Since it is not available in the market yet, we are patiently waiting for reviews to come out before we order ours.<br />
<br />
Today is my sister DM's birthday and she woke up to this --<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj721Wmtiw3t4VWLKXWF2UOUR5SU2W5ZziXeiuoNW7qWr3VAy4Z46NaVQCH_08nAFJXyDaFjbMovROojbGf4jabt0lY_hfxDXGehYnbDvOt06vYxr2aJ4DhJTYRrwjArchAgNBwdwuA96A/s1600/iPad.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj721Wmtiw3t4VWLKXWF2UOUR5SU2W5ZziXeiuoNW7qWr3VAy4Z46NaVQCH_08nAFJXyDaFjbMovROojbGf4jabt0lY_hfxDXGehYnbDvOt06vYxr2aJ4DhJTYRrwjArchAgNBwdwuA96A/s400/iPad.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
It seems that you will not be needing the Kindle Fire anymore. Great gift from your hubby and kiddos! Happy birthday, DM!<br />

When I thought I graduated from Coach, I again fell in love with its leather goods after I visited the Men's Outlet, instead of the usual Women's Outlet, near my sister's work. I was able to get a blue leather messenger bag from the men's section, which I intend to use as my second bag/document bag for work, and a bi-fold wallet, also from men's section, both for myself.<br />
<br />
However, a week before I left the US, I saw another big leather bag, now from Michael Kors in Nordstrom, with shoulder strap and handles which is more feminine. I bought it and decided to return the Coach bag I bought.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">When I got back to the Philippines, I regretted returning the bag and blamed myself for it. The bag must have been very useful for work. Plus the bag being from the men's section, my hubby could borrow it. Since I cannot do anything anymore, I just asked my sister MC to check, if she gets the time, and to call me if there are business bags on sale (outlet price less additional discount).</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">About three weeks ago, I received a call from my sister that she saw a Gray Leather Commuter Bag from the men's section. MC being a bag-addict, I trusted her judgment and asked her to decide for me. She send me pictures and I got really excited!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Last weekend, my relatives from the US arrived with my bag! I opened the package and saw this Men's Coach Pebbled Leather Commuter Gray Bag in Dark Gray --</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

It is such a classic and useful piece. Plus the size is perfect for my documents, the size being 16" x 12" x 3". So much space and lots of pockets!<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Back</td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
When my hubby got home, he saw the bag and he is claiming rights over it. He said it's a man-bag and is too big for me. Tsk tsk! So much to discourage me from using it! I know your tactics. I see a hidden agenda.<br />
<br />
Well, I see the first ever bag we would be sharing. Let's have one week each and lets decide on who will use it first! Haha! :)<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: inherit; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small; line-height: 20px;">When you see the word "Inutak" in a food bazaar, you will surely look back and wonder if what you've read is right. "Inutak", I believe, is from the root word "utak", or brain in English language. So what is it doing in a food bazaar? I myself thought of that.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: inherit; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small; line-height: 20px;"> </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: inherit; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small; line-height: 20px;">I had the chance to meet the people behind "Inutak Local Delicacy", a food booth at Mercato Centrale in The Fort. "Inutak", according to them, is a local delicacy from Taguig which is a simple rice cake made of glutinous rice, coconut milk, and a bit of sugar. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: inherit; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: inherit; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small; line-height: 20px;">I was able to finally taste "Inutak" and I find it good with coffee or tea. I think it was named "Inutak" because of its consistency which is a bit loose compared to other rice cakes or kakanins which are a bit thick, if I describe it right. I am not a food critique! </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: inherit; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: inherit; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small; line-height: 20px;">Anyway, the "Inutak" Local delicacy is not too sweet and is the perfect kakanin to have for the holidays, instead of the usual fruit and rhum cakes. </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

I met up my girl friends DC and LA for brunch. Most of the restaurants along Tomas Morato are closed for All Saints Day and we ended eating at BonChon-Il Terrazo. <br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;">It was my first time to try BonChon. It has a fastfood set-up where you order at the counter but you wait for your food to be served at your table. We ordered the soy-garlic and hot and spicy chicken and chops plus fries and iced tea!</span></span> We then had cake and coffee at the other open resto in the same building, Banapple. We had a good chat and we ended up not noticing the time. I forgot that I offered to buy lunch for hubby.<br />
<br />
I got home at 3:00 P.M. bringing these for my hubby--<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqk2-nDJB2p3GXbzAT_I2zJokG77ULRZYgarn6Gig-32GZJK4Vbe7Bk9jFyxBIkvbRdArPHwl9oIHVMa7YigMNVUbR_zlW2USfOIQgakNFHmMi5fGSAurmrnbpCKqER0iUVMY_6T6EFjU/s1600/IMG_1129.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqk2-nDJB2p3GXbzAT_I2zJokG77ULRZYgarn6Gig-32GZJK4Vbe7Bk9jFyxBIkvbRdArPHwl9oIHVMa7YigMNVUbR_zlW2USfOIQgakNFHmMi5fGSAurmrnbpCKqER0iUVMY_6T6EFjU/s400/IMG_1129.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
I got him Mixed Chicken Wings, Chapchae, and Iced Tea, the latter, I think, is neither Lipton nor Nestea! :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwesVCb_zXDVI1iyUf756NMAqRA5r_8IOWFyCMfT911i0pr5OEJq7PWMkiTBigaJxqH_OlrC-bQQjW4lo8mA5ZAcmlHMVJIac00yjoH8GgjZ3j9AtsXQn0QkdmTiR3kEH7rZG9Ao51klU/s1600/IMG_1130.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwesVCb_zXDVI1iyUf756NMAqRA5r_8IOWFyCMfT911i0pr5OEJq7PWMkiTBigaJxqH_OlrC-bQQjW4lo8mA5ZAcmlHMVJIac00yjoH8GgjZ3j9AtsXQn0QkdmTiR3kEH7rZG9Ao51klU/s400/IMG_1130.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><span class="Apple-style-span"> Hubby liked its soy-garlic and spicy glaze flavors. The Chapchae or Korean noodles is good but he liked his recipe better, the one with beef sirloin strips in his special sauce. There were not much toppings for this Chapchae, just plain veggies and a few strips of egg. I told you, hubby is a wanna-be-chef!<br />

Over-all, despite the some comments from my hubby, we consider BonChon another comfort food. The chickens are something to nibble while having a nice conversation with family and friends.<br />

I have been to Cebu and I love the city as well as the islands. A Cebu vacation would not be complete without bringing home some goodies such their native dried fish, otap, dried mangoes, and the so-called "Cebu Lechon". When we were in Cebu, the famous lechon was CNT and I bought a couple of kilos for my family and friends. And even for our office staff who is from Cebu, I always make it a point to ask her to buy me a couple of kilos of CNT Lechon every time she goes home to her province.<br />
<br />
That changed when Anthony Bourdain for "No Reservations" went to the Philippines. Marketman played host and Anthony Bourdain was served with lechon cooked with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: inherit;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 19px;">lemongrass, green onions, siling labuyo, local sea salt, and other herbs and spices. The lechon was described by Mr. Bourdain as the best pig ever! </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 19px;">That episode of "No Reservation" made me want to try Marketmanila's Cebu Lechon!</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 19px;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 19px;"></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 19px;">Recently, Marketman opened two stores of "Zubuchon" in Cebu. I have been wanting to taste their lechon and everything else on their menu but Cebu is too far from Manila.</span><br />
<br />
Fast forward, a cousin who went to Cebu brought us Zubuchon for pasalubong --<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0wjuK7HE6Yn5zsLRpaUvVqm3orVWfK91dig9M2YJz2a3dshFt2Ox4O5u6ueV2YN_ZSe4asBzi2Q5AodATJrq78kruS52Ai5bgWNf2uq2IDrOSoQIAvinhIXgG6lewkOThTulEMIJ-TMQ/s1600/Zubuchom.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0wjuK7HE6Yn5zsLRpaUvVqm3orVWfK91dig9M2YJz2a3dshFt2Ox4O5u6ueV2YN_ZSe4asBzi2Q5AodATJrq78kruS52Ai5bgWNf2uq2IDrOSoQIAvinhIXgG6lewkOThTulEMIJ-TMQ/s400/Zubuchom.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
We immediately tried some and we find it <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: black; font-family: inherit;">perfectly cooked and better than that of <span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 19px;">CNT. </span></span><span style="color: black;">I love that there was a generous portion of skin. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; line-height: 19px;"><span style="color: black;">I heard Zubuchon does not use MSG and artificial flavors and mixes. Since we can only take so much to avoid having pains on our nape, we set aside about half of it. The next day, we had it fried and the skin was perfect! </span></span><br />
<br />
Who's going to Cebu, I want some Zubuchon! :)<br />

<div style="font-family: inherit;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small; line-height: 20px;">I got excited after seeing the appetizers. I have a liking for slightly spicy food. <span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Out of the six kinds of appetizers served before us, the kimchi made of leeks became my instant favorite. It is amazingly good </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Lucida Grande',Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: small; line-height: 20px;">because the leeks was still very fresh and crisp and while it is spicy, it is not overpowering --</span><br />

The color reminds me of my alma mater! I know, K1 wouldn't care! Haha! Anyway, K1 loves the material and the print. He refused to remove it after he tried it on and he insists on zipping it up to his neck!<br />
<br />
And this one is for K2 -- for two years old! It has a small crab print in front and a big crab print on the back. What's with the crab? :)<br />
<br />

Since IE is a big baby, it's good that there is a zip on the back, his mom will not have a hard time putting it on him.<br />
<br />
They are all too cute. Now, the kids could wear their rash guards with their trunks. We can't wait for the boys to use their rash guards.<br />
<br />
And here is the bonus -- the slippers my sister MC and I purchased when we were in the US! <br />

</div><span style="font-size: small;">My everyday shampoo and conditioner are the regular supermarket brands that I buy in big sizes. For my shampoo alone, I buy two kinds which I alternate. Same goes for my hubby. The problem is our shower caddy couldn't accommodate all the big bottles because of their height. And being on the OC side, I hate seeing different kinds of bottles, in different colors, and in different sizes.</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="font-family: inherit; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Luckily, I saw these cheap PET bottles from Regina's, my favorite waste land since time immemorial! I always find cute stuffs from there which I do not really need but are simply irresistible.</span></div><div style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: small;">Got these bottles at P29.00 each! I told you they are cheap! I will be using them for my shampoo, conditioner, and body wash!</span><br />

I am a newbie when it comes to make-up. My constant companions are my face powder and lip gloss and I am good to go. I didn't use make up because I thought it will take an hour of my time. While I had several stash of make-ups, I didn't use most of them. <br />
<br />
Last Christmas, my SIL AE gave me this --<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqNkHuvCfieZM1n8L4bXDZL4ZE9CcDYWM8QSaUFih07kCjA_o_qwENE2GOYSlFa_G2FtHBZZyY_t53w5ZpN4KHUzg7bRXjzgps4nEYnawO5wNyL7iCNBr7Gyqg_TwVXeAmPESg0bw1-V0/s1600/IMG_1076.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqNkHuvCfieZM1n8L4bXDZL4ZE9CcDYWM8QSaUFih07kCjA_o_qwENE2GOYSlFa_G2FtHBZZyY_t53w5ZpN4KHUzg7bRXjzgps4nEYnawO5wNyL7iCNBr7Gyqg_TwVXeAmPESg0bw1-V0/s400/IMG_1076.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
The "Ultimate Make-Up Kit" from VS! Such small kit opens to this --<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhU1iQesDC71oTBU_J0aEgcc3mVEPNrHffk6jTEyk7meWx14JHIeYDProydUpaibnw-CA5EQ0Mddgdgk_Oal-rwr_o90MTpwjUcnZ906N3cjd1ijbWq8QEh6ZWsmCi_3agKEOAchfmlmaY/s1600/IMG_1082.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhU1iQesDC71oTBU_J0aEgcc3mVEPNrHffk6jTEyk7meWx14JHIeYDProydUpaibnw-CA5EQ0Mddgdgk_Oal-rwr_o90MTpwjUcnZ906N3cjd1ijbWq8QEh6ZWsmCi_3agKEOAchfmlmaY/s400/IMG_1082.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
I love that its is compact! It includes --<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">30 Silky Eye Shadow</div><div style="text-align: center;">5 Perfect Lipstick</div><div style="text-align: center;">5 Lip Gloss </div><div style="text-align: center;">3 Blush</div><div style="text-align: center;">Bronzer</div><div style="text-align: center;">Luminous Powder<br />
Translucent Powder</div><div style="text-align: center;">Lip Liner</div><div style="text-align: center;">Eye Liner</div><div style="text-align: center;"> Mascara</div><br />
And it even comes with a powder/blush brush, two lip brushes, and two eye shadow applicators!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhco_ISnjJJcGgt1Xh9-HS7-5TL-kIvLsjTCsF05CzdvGNok9hL5qbThwvqWQWXVqUtrsm4LP0c-6WIyM_gDUQmP5fxehq55SpZTsVqftirVA_xAjoIuPcyy0m2Y84qhkS2Ix3SqBbqpaU/s1600/IMG_1075.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhco_ISnjJJcGgt1Xh9-HS7-5TL-kIvLsjTCsF05CzdvGNok9hL5qbThwvqWQWXVqUtrsm4LP0c-6WIyM_gDUQmP5fxehq55SpZTsVqftirVA_xAjoIuPcyy0m2Y84qhkS2Ix3SqBbqpaU/s400/IMG_1075.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><br />
While I still go for the uber minimalist look, I put on make-up just for a touch of color. I am a novice and the art of putting make-up is something which is not common to me, not yet. Haha! <br />
<br />
I've been using my make-up kit for months already and I am loving the make-up. However, I am having problems with the brush and the applicators. The brushes are too small and are not of good quality and are simply there for convenience. I then remembered the powder/face brush which my sister KA gave me. Now, I never leave home without my make-up kit and brush. It has never been the same. I feel that something is missing when I do not put on at least a little make-up.<br />
<br />

Between me and my hubby, it is he who is conscious of what to eat and what not to eat. It sometimes is hard to choose what to eat when we are out since he doesn't want to eat pork or sweets. He is also choosy when it comes to food -- he doesn't eat mussels, oysters, beef dinuguan, and the list goes on.<br />
<br />
Hubby is also addicted to working out! While I couldn't carry a dumbbell or run 100 meters, he, on the other hand, works out thrice a week and runs when there is a chance! Talk about being a health buff, huh?<br />
<br />
Through our good friend LA, he discovered this --<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2-ktW8uGtls5M8E6febFbiQ4CxxWwRPmEruTKbI-lD9qwSwle5ACrBO-MWvpqwsRbx3kH8VRjej6BnVXBTLuRPh7keAKLnGaSCLD9TzengwVUHNLPKjaTiH-a6LnWf2WYSQpo_7Idjp0/s1600/2_1_2_orange.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2-ktW8uGtls5M8E6febFbiQ4CxxWwRPmEruTKbI-lD9qwSwle5ACrBO-MWvpqwsRbx3kH8VRjej6BnVXBTLuRPh7keAKLnGaSCLD9TzengwVUHNLPKjaTiH-a6LnWf2WYSQpo_7Idjp0/s400/2_1_2_orange.jpg" width="275" /></a></div>My sister bought a lot from Costco for our parents and my hubby! Thanks, DM! You can also purchase from <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Metamucil-Smooth-Texture-Orange-114-Tablespoon/dp/B0013I4WLG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1318488141&sr=8-3">Amazon</a>, it is 50% cheaper than here in MNL. <br />
<div class="h_callout_body"><br />
Hubby has been taking two glasses of this alleged "goodness" twice a day and he even makes it a point to pack some if we are going on a trip. Metamucil claims of several benefits. Their <a href="http://www.metamucil.com/">website</a> boasts --</div><div class="h_callout_body"><br />
</div><div class="h_callout_body" style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">"While most fiber supplements only help to promote regularity, </span></div><div class="h_callout_body" style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">Metamucil® does more. It's the only leading fiber supplement brand made </span></div><div class="h_callout_body" style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">with 100% natural psyllium fiber that's clinically proven, </span></div><div class="h_callout_body" style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">and recognized by the FDA, to help lower cholesterol.*</span></div><div style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">Good for your heart, good for your digestive system —</span></div><div style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">good for your healthy lifestyle." </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">When I feel I am bloated, I take Metamucil and it does what it should. The problem is, I feel I am choking because of the consistency of the mixture -- it gets thick when not consumed immediately. While I believe that it is beneficial for my digestive system, I first need to like it and convince myself that it is good for me! </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"> And don't tell him I tell you about this -- </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjim8EP7B7RjJi0rRUmJNK3m02iIQSYgUE53pslfBzMUhsjqnvYNoajRovWbbyqcBqKrUB9TfCQL9ce3X7lUsumqIIdezkeG4036pLHqE3Tl7goQ-HyxMbfvND8A0EDsOS9wZnEddSB7XY/s1600/IMG_0808.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjim8EP7B7RjJi0rRUmJNK3m02iIQSYgUE53pslfBzMUhsjqnvYNoajRovWbbyqcBqKrUB9TfCQL9ce3X7lUsumqIIdezkeG4036pLHqE3Tl7goQ-HyxMbfvND8A0EDsOS9wZnEddSB7XY/s400/IMG_0808.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><br />
He asked me to buy him two bottles of L-Carnitine when I was in the U.S. I got his from Vitamin World but I think the one from <a href="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dhpc&field-keywords=l-carnitine+free+form+500+mg&x=0&y=0">here</a> is cheaper.<br />
<br />
While I am against supplements, I cannot do anything because even if I don't buy it there, he will get it locally anyway.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5KIcqgm1N8m0oL7IIvUayZCbZ4_phIxh9kHgx-UqGUZ0pZ9BzBX2XQ4loJeT7bn5P3MGG3Yzlox_yTlDc1C5XWhnioVVZxQN_NlrEG8xlII3HTMVNzERCSFDjoqQues8gs3BF-wWldQk/s1600/IMG_0806.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5KIcqgm1N8m0oL7IIvUayZCbZ4_phIxh9kHgx-UqGUZ0pZ9BzBX2XQ4loJeT7bn5P3MGG3Yzlox_yTlDc1C5XWhnioVVZxQN_NlrEG8xlII3HTMVNzERCSFDjoqQues8gs3BF-wWldQk/s400/IMG_0806.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
The label claims --<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1wVgTwlK2o2dykQhA7BtrfaCj99txENTkp4J2D2q3COmZh3OpX-V-M4dRwu_YpicWNQSE8bwyVfWGq1-6lzpkp8D9JUXW2MQmpgqMXs5uMh_ZL6lfGlaWJ2xiS0q8noAuzMcF8mEcX_4/s1600/IMG_0810.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1wVgTwlK2o2dykQhA7BtrfaCj99txENTkp4J2D2q3COmZh3OpX-V-M4dRwu_YpicWNQSE8bwyVfWGq1-6lzpkp8D9JUXW2MQmpgqMXs5uMh_ZL6lfGlaWJ2xiS0q8noAuzMcF8mEcX_4/s400/IMG_0810.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Hubby said it is safe. I did my research and I have read from this <a href="http://www.buzzle.com/articles/l-carnitine-side-effects.html">site</a> that --<br />
<div style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">"The health benefits of L-carnitine are far more than its potential risks </span></div><div style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">on your over all wellness. It is safe and remains as such, </span></div><div style="color: #4c1130; font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">as long as you take it in prescribed dosages."</span></div><br />
I am not convinced. Not yet! I really hope it is safe and will not harm his liver.</div>Gehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03902626532973848580noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-254578511486782603.post-22236057517300275382011-10-11T13:50:00.001+08:002011-10-11T13:52:19.965+08:00Medals and Trophies<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">When I was in school, I was only an average student. While I did receive a medal and certificates of appreciation when I was in GS, there was no first, second, or third honors. The time I again received some recognition was when I was in college, when I was twice included in the Dean's List. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">With respect to my sisters, each has a story of the recognition and achievements they have gathered through out their student life. My sisters are more serious with their studies than I and our parents could attest to that. I could still recall the times that I was too lazy to study. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Anyway, my sisters and I each keep the proof of our hard work. Mine was in an envelope and they are only for my appreciation. Haha! If we are to frame all the certificates, diplomas, and plaques we have gathered, I think we could cover all the walls of a room but mine would only cover a portion of it, tee-hee :) </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">With respect to my hubby, he and his sisters had amassed a certain number of medals -- those with red, white, and blue ribbons! I took a picture of these medals displayed in their house --</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRlcx3HZEp5p12v08KCPlyyEwh0V9VUGF5B5JtCx7oULBnNm2TBJiH-nEWMQoVGeoo9DoKlX3-oc8DieBABFAskxOq8rJm5YDdZW3cKv_MMhMGQp2mUC2tYcMwFggbIt9OmT3HyssOlJA/s400/IMG_0921.JPG" width="400" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It was my FIL who arranged these medals and who carefully hanged them. I could only surmise how proud my FIL and MIL were going up the stage and hanging these medals to their kids! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And these are the trophies they have collected --</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW-O01WHPYCXB0NZpO-Xg3WHstb8F2QK8zhf1fymuC3XWzMT2ZX_a16rq9GuwQr0QBJmCsVq-rD8XYeQEjq8VWBDQJulxTF4mmMbQzA5DL9zxj95qG78IwcEKagunw_rGMZ3tAD8ua2FQ/s1600/IMG_0920.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW-O01WHPYCXB0NZpO-Xg3WHstb8F2QK8zhf1fymuC3XWzMT2ZX_a16rq9GuwQr0QBJmCsVq-rD8XYeQEjq8VWBDQJulxTF4mmMbQzA5DL9zxj95qG78IwcEKagunw_rGMZ3tAD8ua2FQ/s400/IMG_0920.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Looking back, I wish I did well. <br />
<br />
My parents have not been remiss in reminding us to value education since according to them, that is the only legacy they could leave us. Mind you, that is not easy to understand especially for a kid who only has "play" in mind. I myself only understood this when I already finished my college education.<br />
<br />
Now that I am a parent, I could only wish that my kids would do well in school. I do not intend to pressure my kids as I want them to learn in a fun and exciting way.<br />
<br />
Next school year, we will be sending K1 to a preschool in preparation for big school. Let's see who will be having separation anxiety, him or I? :)<br />
<br />
</div>Gehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03902626532973848580noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-254578511486782603.post-16838626180709389032011-10-06T14:25:00.006+08:002011-10-12T15:45:03.169+08:00Happiness<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div id="article_text_blocks"><br />
Sadness is a relative term and it depends on how we view things. I equate sadness to problems and problems to a situation which for me is difficult to deal with.<br />
<br />
In my younger years, I feel sad when I cannot play or cannot tag along my parents. In my grade school and high school days, I feel sad when I get low grades, when my mom scolds and reprimands me, and when there's a fight between me and my siblings. In my college and post graduate years, I feel sad when I am under stress and when there is a misunderstanding in a relationship. Lately, I feel sad when I am tired and when I do not get the results I expect.<br />
<br />
Like everyone else, I desire to be happy and at peace. I base my happiness on things and conditions. I tell myself, "I will be happy when I get good results from my work" or I will be happy when I get the jewelry or bag I want" or "I will be happy if my hubby would agree with me". But then, as soon as I get what I want, I again become dissatisfied as I tend to desire or expect more. I know, I am so shallow!<br />
<br />
I then realized that it is because I have attached certain conditions to my happiness.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHfH14YXJPyUcHXtLPQK97_ydPIizXMwgR-KJnui2gjbde_Q1fNs5y6u1qOzIHU3nxpe3OeQ_-SW62Yub1D5YM6kbM4oLrl4PXxWmRcLO1b74ihjv1F7mj8lBWkVgpDmClfBWBNSNT_54/s1600/www.friendship-quotes.info.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHfH14YXJPyUcHXtLPQK97_ydPIizXMwgR-KJnui2gjbde_Q1fNs5y6u1qOzIHU3nxpe3OeQ_-SW62Yub1D5YM6kbM4oLrl4PXxWmRcLO1b74ihjv1F7mj8lBWkVgpDmClfBWBNSNT_54/s400/www.friendship-quotes.info.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">www.friendship-quotes.info</td></tr>
</tbody></table>Through soul searching, I realized that I should not depend my happiness from something or someone else as it should come from within. Also, I am responsible for my own happiness!<br />
<br />
Lately, I have been thinking too much. I tell myself that "I am disappointed and sad" and that "I am expecting more". In the process, it is not only I who is sad as I had also affected the happiness of the people I love. I feel sorry for that.<br />
<br />
In this lifetime, I know problems and misunderstandings would come and it is up to me on how to deal with them. If I want to be happy, I should not react negatively and I should always have positive thoughts. As I have said, it is up to me. If I choose to be happy, I would be happy and so will the people around me.<br />
<br />
It is hard, I know. But no matter how hard it is, I will try to have an open mind and learn how to have a positive stand. After all, as my sister KA tells me, I am not the center of the universe!<br />
<br />
Edit:<br />
<br />
Oh, and as what DC just said -- "o<span class="messageBody translationEligibleUserMessage" data-ft="{"type":3}">ne of the simplest way to be happy is by just letting go of the things that make you sad."</span><br />
<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It was around 8:30 A.M. of 27 September 2011 when I received a call from the Managing Partner of the Firm that they are suspending work due to Typhoon Pedring. Such decision was reached after work for government employees was suspend due to the storm signal. While I could see the strong rain plus the strong winds, I did not know that it as that serious. This was because we have no electricity at that time; ergo, no TV or AM radio.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Despite the discouragement from my parents, I still decided to brave the rain and to go to work to finish some paper works and to get my files for the hearing the next day. My sister KA went with me and with us are the netbook, iPad, iPhone, cellphones, camera, and video for charging.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I stopped by Shell gas station to fill my tank and while waiting for my card, the glass window of the cashier suddenly fell because of the strong wind. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQN3ClGhPHngh0qhHSxmn1b8TBDCGudbdYctog5Ti_MtJarqp0fxKy_x8s8kEz6v3E4Q-3SQd8IbYBvi037I0hNgovSCnHllPoWLLmMA5KZ9h31VxZVwRuJKMYrrypnR7tyKZ4PNoOWDE/s400/IMG_0871.JPG" width="300" /></div><br />
Good thing my car was not hit by the broken glass, there is a good distance of about a meter and a a half. On our way to Ortigas, we saw this MMDA truck ready to do some clearing and cleaning!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjA_oON8NIK98PupqO3eXLGIUWkUn5lDCTIZ4bVY-lXgIRpJyv1r_yqzv9Obq6uvuGQxqN6W7kTXdq5FYcOSVWCmopFVqkOjwmedEk1pVa719mabU-Y8RVs_lgFIEkgUUKyih2uBLCTmSo/s1600/IMG_0873.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjA_oON8NIK98PupqO3eXLGIUWkUn5lDCTIZ4bVY-lXgIRpJyv1r_yqzv9Obq6uvuGQxqN6W7kTXdq5FYcOSVWCmopFVqkOjwmedEk1pVa719mabU-Y8RVs_lgFIEkgUUKyih2uBLCTmSo/s400/IMG_0873.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
We saw lots of trees and broken branches that fell on the road, but we weren't able to take pictures. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi569xgHnOb1OpGKAsxkXiwYEBXgPDUxPrRwMm0LeBWtJptK_IFLtbVtg24GP3dd0q9Cryu9y95HJq9Nkw0jMDmczhCcFdPJ03m_G_okmDG2cnLByW2MV8jW8BDFYIOw6bcJ8ck_NJTgM8/s1600/IMG_0874.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi569xgHnOb1OpGKAsxkXiwYEBXgPDUxPrRwMm0LeBWtJptK_IFLtbVtg24GP3dd0q9Cryu9y95HJq9Nkw0jMDmczhCcFdPJ03m_G_okmDG2cnLByW2MV8jW8BDFYIOw6bcJ8ck_NJTgM8/s400/IMG_0874.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
My sister and I stayed at the office for a good three hours and we again braved the rain. We were already scared of being trapped somewhere especially when we weren't able to reach the mobile numbers of our family and househelpers. We also noticed that our cellphone signals were down.<br />
<br />
We passed by our usual route and we saw the big tree in the center island occupying four lanes of the road. We had to pass by the easement of the establishments just to be able to pass. The poor tree, we have been seeing this tree for decades now.<br />

It was a relief when we got home. It feels good to be with our family, there is a sense of security especially that you know everyone is safe.<br />
<br />
Since we have nothing else to do, I and the kids played and snuggled in bed. At first, K1 was enjoying the dim light dinner and shadow puppets but later on, he and K2 got irritated. They are not used to not having a light, music, and artificial air from the aircon or the fan. I had to fan them all night.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNqY_SHRU932WztygnFgZ0NPuNPjJ59binVOZKaIGIuqNjRybC7hFgUzMulmXowDT_GJi3o0wRK-w7HNEetu9hACL2NgVkRLtiUEaJtK1eKl-8YPu6mEeZcpRnpl-DhHloyfpJuX96mk0/s1600/IMG_0890.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNqY_SHRU932WztygnFgZ0NPuNPjJ59binVOZKaIGIuqNjRybC7hFgUzMulmXowDT_GJi3o0wRK-w7HNEetu9hACL2NgVkRLtiUEaJtK1eKl-8YPu6mEeZcpRnpl-DhHloyfpJuX96mk0/s400/IMG_0890.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
I learned a lot from this experience. In the middle of our sleep, I saw the tea light candle above with a huge flame the size of a saucer, with its glass broken. Good thing nothing was damaged. I didn't expect it to set fire as big as that!<br />
<br />
Electricity was restored after thirty-two hours! <br />
<br />
Next time, I will be more ready. Oh, and I think I will be scouting for a transistor radio, a rechargeable light, fan, and a bigger flashlight than what I am using.<br />
<br />
I am glad and thankful we are all safe!<br />

Last Friday, I had an engagement in Tagaytay. I scheduled it on a Friday so that our family could spend our weekend at hubby's family's country home!<br />
<br />
As early as Thursday afternoon, I was already giving instructions to the nannies to pack the kids' stuff. It is not easy to travel with kids because we feel we are carrying the whole house. Imagine packing the play yard, the foam which we ordered from Uratex especially measured for the playpen's specifications (because the playpen doubles as K2's crib), stroller, and boxes/containers of food/snacks, bottles, and clothes! We store the clothes in a plastic box/container so that we would no longer transfer the kids' clothes to the cabinet. With respect to toys, we only bring some which they would be needing while inside the car. And for toiletries, we leave a kids' set in Tagaytay.<br />
<br />
Here is my "to bring list" when traveling out of town with my toddlers:<br />
<br />
1. Clothes and diapers;<br />
2. Toiletries; <br />
3. Food, milk, water, snacks;<br />
4. Feeding bowls, sippy cups, spoons (because we use our own utensils and bowls when feeding them commercial food);<br />
5. Playpen which could double as a crib;<br />
6. Pillows and blanket;<br />
7. Wet wipes;<br />
8. Off spray or lotion and medicines;<br />
9. Stroller; and, <br />
10. Toys or any other stuff which would make them busy while in transit. I do not recommend<br />
letting your kids play with iPhone, iPad, or PSP when in transit. It makes them dizzy which could lead to motion sickness;<br />
<br />
I recommend bringing extra clothes for those sitting or taking care of the kids (in case they throw up) and Bonamin for motion sickness (in our case, it is one of our nannies who needs it).<br />
<br />
By now, the nannies have mastered the art of packing. I need not tell them what to bring or what not to bring since they have been doing it ever since they were hired. I just check the clothes and edit them, depending on the weather.<br />
<br />
Play time in Tagaytay is usually spent at the living room. One of the areas was instantly converted to a kids' area -- the playpen and the toys are stationed there and even the TV was fixed to Channel 66 -- Disney Junior!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguyaWxfk65C2HYxqovbx63udKNR8Lu1D06z6cY-EMuxvDFgN26SPXSbA3Ym6CHM7Bzg8nMnw2uagbTPdbtU3ZLZoivAvEKxg7Y07Cmq5w3JLGdpwFAC8oczoJ1Ok7BBrS5Gz4VIOEBH4M/s1600/IMG_0927.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguyaWxfk65C2HYxqovbx63udKNR8Lu1D06z6cY-EMuxvDFgN26SPXSbA3Ym6CHM7Bzg8nMnw2uagbTPdbtU3ZLZoivAvEKxg7Y07Cmq5w3JLGdpwFAC8oczoJ1Ok7BBrS5Gz4VIOEBH4M/s400/IMG_0927.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Tagaytay is so "laid-back". We just stay home, save for a few trips to the grocery. We allow the kids to play and wander in the garden, away from gadgets!<br />
<br />
These are K1 and I! He made me wear one of his slippers and the other one was left with him. The weather is just perfect for us to cuddle and play. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnfOx3so7Wzjn_xY05265tmexSKu1MsSWjKtOHKMrlwvaokleAEz2v0cWHEtfO3OHvNgo9Uu_5ch_foRxHahWFb9geeN_jJqs4hAIW5ZWQx2fxwn5T2pSLe3y6Cf-8jKjQ9WHC5VPmCTg/s1600/IMG_0929.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnfOx3so7Wzjn_xY05265tmexSKu1MsSWjKtOHKMrlwvaokleAEz2v0cWHEtfO3OHvNgo9Uu_5ch_foRxHahWFb9geeN_jJqs4hAIW5ZWQx2fxwn5T2pSLe3y6Cf-8jKjQ9WHC5VPmCTg/s400/IMG_0929.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><br />
We have a box/container of toys in Tagaytay, just so we would not have to pack the toys to and fro our house in the metro --<br />

Dinner with the family is something I look forward to. We have been doing it since we were kids. We wait for each other to get home and we eat our dinner together.<br />
<br />
It would have been better if my sisters are here but we have to content ourselves with overseas communications. For us in the Philippines, while we eat dinner together, we enjoy it more on weekends, when everyone are present and not in a rush. I believe that the family that eats together, stays together, or the saying goes! Haha! :) <br />
<br />
Meal times together are the time that we can discuss matters or simply talk and bond.<br />
<br />
In one of my trips to our kitchen, I saw this bag of chips which has been in the counter for weeks already. While I wanted to open the bag to taste for myself this unique blend of salt and pepper, I hesitated after checking the fridge. I would want to pair it with Salsa or Jalapeno Cheese Dip but our supplies are gone!<br />
<br />
While dinner was being prepared, I found a use for the chips. As a side-dish it is! :)<br />
<br />

Dinner is Philly Cheesesteak! The sirloin strips were cooked in olive oil + spices, placed on warm bread, and topped with caramelized onion and cheese! It was served with Kettle Brand Krinkle Cut Potato Chips, and salad greens + cucumber + tomatoes with Caesar Dressing.<br />

Family meals are the perfect time for parents to talk to their kids and to listen to what’s on their mind. We are often reminded that the more often kids eat dinner with their families, the less likely they are to smoke, drink, or use drugs. And kids who eat with their families are more likely to get better grades in school.<br />
<br />
Can't wait for another family dinner wherein we can eat, talk, and laugh together! :)<br />
